This documentation guides students on using Una’s MakeCode coding editors to develop AI apps with Una’s MakeCode.

Types of Una’s MakeCode Coding Editors
Una virtual classroom embeds the original and modified versions of Microsoft MakeCode for students to create micro:bit devices and AI apps, enabling students to create different powerful and innovative products using the same type of block codes.
Type 1: Micro:bit programs

Type 2: AI Apps
1. AI App with Raspberry Pi smart device. (Deprecated)
Students can use Raspberry Pi along with coding blocks to create AI devices.
2. AI Web App [TBC pic]
Students can use coding blocks to develop, deploy and publish web-based AI apps.
This document primarily focuses on this type of Una’s MakeCode environment.
Only users with an Advanced (AI Maker) virtual classroom subscription can access these features.
The MakeCode coding editor for AI Apps offers several useful features similar to the MakeCode coding editor micro:bit program (Reference: Micro:bit Coding with Una’s MakeCode), including:
- Zoom in or out in coding workspaces
- Code in individual coding space
- Get sample code provided by teachers
- Copy and paste codes in the same or different coding spaces.
- Observe group member’s code in real-time
- Collaborative coding in group workspace
- Submit your code
- View previously saved/submitted work through history
- Share your code [TBC]
- Switch between Blocks and JavaScript (Python is not supported)
