Setup AI Virtual Classroom (Requires Advanced Subscription)
Setup AI Virtual Classroom (Requires Advanced Subscription)

This documentation guides teachers on setting up AI virtual classroom for students to develop AI apps with Una’s MakeCode.

Before you start, you should already complete reading:

Check school’s remaining quota

Teachers can click the “API Set” button to check the school’s remaining quota for third-party cloud-based APIs.

How to check the total quota?

Manage Quotas in virtual classrooms

This tab appears only in virtual classrooms using the “AI App for Raspberry Pi” or “AI App on Web.” It helps manage and monitor student quotas to prevent overspending due to errors like programming mistakes. Each student square shows two numbers (A/B), where A is the remaining quota and B is the total allocated quota. For example, 11/20 means the student has 20 uses allocated and has 11 remaining.

Add AI quota for individual student

You can follow the steps below to assign quotas to students.

  1. Click the “Manage Quotas” tab
  2. Click on the menu and select the type of API call you want to use, such as Face and Vision. After selecting, you will see the remaining quota below
  3. Click the “+” button in the student group on the left
  4. A number box will appear, click on the box to enter the quota you want to allocate to the group
  5. Upon completion, click the tick sign (✓)

Add School’s IoT Devices to Una (Deprecated) [TBC]

Teachers can contact Una’s team to learn how to set up IoT devices, such as Raspberry Pis. After setup successfully, teachers can register IoT Devices onto the Una Platform. The “Your Devices” area will show devices that belong to your school, and the “Shared Devices” area will show devices that Una lends to schools.

On this page, you can manage your devices, such as the name, registrant, and device status.

  1. Click this button to delete a device
  2. Click this button to disconnect a device from all the sessions
  3. To add new devices to Una Platform, you can enter your device’s name into the text box under “Register New Device” and click “Register”
How to check the status of IoT Device?

Manage devices in virtual classrooms (Deprecated)

This feature is available only in virtual classrooms using “AI App for Raspberry Pi.” It helps assign devices to students and monitor their status. A red icon means the Raspberry Pi is offline, and a blue icon means it is online.

To assign devices to students:

  1. Click the “Manage Devices” button
  2. Drag the device name from “Ungrouped” to the appropriate group on the right. These groups match those in “Manage Students.”
