2. Highlights of the Second and Third Innovation Training Camp

Following the unprecedented success of the first training camp, the second and third training camps for Microsoft Imagine Cup Junior (MSICJ) Hong Kong 2025 have also been successfully held and concluded! Once again, our heartfelt thanks to all teachers, students, and parents from the academic community, our co-organizers, supporting organizations, and schools for their enthusiastic participation and strong support!
The second training camp was held at HKSKH Bishop Hall Secondary School. We were greatly honored to have Principal Wong Shun Tak, HKACE Executive Committee Member and Principal of HKTA Tang Hin Memorial Secondary School, deliver an inspiring speech, bringing great encouragement to the students. Subsequently, the third training camp moved to ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School, where we were fortunate to have Principal Liang Kwun Fan, Chairman of the Association of Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools and Principal of Lutheran Secondary School, attend and deliver a speech. His sharing was also immensely beneficial to the students.
In these past two training camps, students continued to delve deeper into innovative AI applications, learning how to transform creative ideas into practical prototypes and enhance their presentation skills. The atmosphere on-site was consistently vibrant, with students actively engaged, fully demonstrating their boundless passion and potential for technological innovation!
The finalist teams for this year’s MSICJ Hong Kong competition will publicly present their innovative projects on stage at the Learning & Teaching Expo. They will also have the opportunity to be invited to the HKtag Pavilion in Hong Kong Computer & Communications Festival 2025 to showcase their technological achievements to the public! Next, participating teams will need to submit a short presentation video introducing their project concepts to the preliminary round judges to compete for a spot in the finals.


3. Highlights of the First Innovation Training Camp

The first session of the Microsoft Imagine Cup Junior (MS ICJ) Hong Kong Training Camp 2025 concluded with great success on May 10th at Fanling Kau Yan College! We extend our sincere gratitude to all the teachers, students, parents, co-organizers, supporting organizations, and schools for their invaluable participation and unwavering support.
This year’s MS ICJ Hong Kong competition saw an impressive turnout, with 51 teams from 38 schools, comprising a total of 254 enthusiastic teachers and students. The first training camp buzzed with energy as students dived into the sessions. We are thrilled to announce that the finalist teams from this year’s competition will showcase their innovative projects on stage at the Learning & Teaching Expo. Furthermore, selected teams may also be invited to present their R&D achievements at the HKtag Pavilion during the HK Computer & Communications Festival!
The day’s agenda was packed with insightful sessions:
1) Overview of the MS ICJ Hong Kong Competition
2) Workshop on Innovation Competition Pitches
3) Hands-on Training in Generative AI Application, AI Model Training, and Project Prototype Development
Participants demonstrated remarkable engagement throughout the training, actively discussing ideas and posing thoughtful questions, showcasing their immense passion and potential for technological innovation.
Our special thanks go to Fanling Kau Yan College for graciously providing the venue, ensuring the training camp ran seamlessly. 4. Microsoft Imagine Cup Junior (Hong Kong) Innovation Bootcamp and Competition 2025
Una and HKACE will host the inaugural Microsoft Imagine Cup Junior (MS ICJ) Hong Kong Innovation Bootcamp and Competition 2025 from May to July 2025. The event is supported by the The Association of Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools, the Digital Policy Office, and multiple organizations, continuing efforts to cultivate tech talent in Hong Kong. This year’s event, previously known as the “Tech For Future” competition, has been upgraded to the Junior level of the Microsoft Imagine Cup international competition, open to all primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong in a team format. Participating teams must attend the bootcamp in May. After the bootcamp, teams need to submit a 3-minute presentation video to qualify for the finals. The finals will be held on July 2nd as part of the Learning and Teaching Expo with a public competition format.
Since 2021, Una, along with leading tech companies and academic institutions, has organized innovation bootcamps and competitions. The aim is for students to experience the joy of scientific research and increase their awareness of tech innovation through sharing, training, and competitions. With various generative AI technologies gaining global popularity, we look forward to more teams participating and creating a wider variety of AI projects this year.

Event Details
ăPhase 1ïŒBootcampă
The bootcamp is a 1-day, 1.5-hour face-to-face training held in various districts of Hong Kong. Each participating team must attend one day. The content across groups is similar. The main language of the bootcamp is Cantonese, supplemented with English explanations. Students who complete the entire bootcamp will receive a participation certificate.

ăPhase 2ïŒPreliminary Roundă
Participating teams need to submit a presentation video of no more than 3 minutes to introduce their project concepts to the judges to qualify for the finals. The competition is divided into two categories (primary and secondary groups), with themes “Tech for Good” for the primary group and “AI for Good” for the secondary group. Details will be announced during the bootcamp.

ăPhase 3: Finalsă
Finalist teams need to personally present their project concepts and demonstrate their work to the judges. The theme remains the same as the preliminary round. The competition is divided into two categories (primary and secondary), and both will take place on the same day but as separate contests, followed by a joint award ceremony.

- The 10+ outstanding teams and classmates will be invited to participate in the Hong Kong Computer and Communications Festival 2025 held at the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Centre from August 22-25, 2025. They will showcase their competition and learning achievements in the Smart Technology Enhancement Exhibition specially set up by HKtag. (New!)

- The tentative quota is 30 teams each for primary and secondary levels.
- Each team must consist of 1 teacher and 2-6 students. The same teacher can participate in more than one team, but each school can send a maximum of 2 teams.
- Successfully registered teams must provide school information, supervising teacher’s details, participating students’ names, and emails.
- Priority for secondary school slots will be given to schools that have participated in the HKACE Youth IT Ambassador Award (YITAA).
- During the event, recordings and photos will be taken. By filling out the online registration form, teams agree to the public use of related videos and photos for promotional purposes.
